Memphis in 1953/1954 Gladys Presley outside her home at 462 Alabama Avenue, a two-story Victorian brick building with a sweeping front porch right across the street from Lauderdale Courts in Memphis. The Presley's lived there on the first floor from April 1953, until late 1954, sharing the house, which had only two apartments, with Rabbi Alfred Fruchter and his wife, Jeanette. The rent was $50. Their landlord, Mrs. Dubrovner, was a widow whose husband had been a kosher butcher.
