Born Charles Edouard Jeanneret, Corbusier is undoubtedly considered to be the most important Modernist chair designer in France. A spirited advocate of Modernism, Le Corbusier created a range of chairs that expressed his ideas with great sophistication. Mrs. Heidi Weber of Zurich first put the Le Corbusier collection into production in 1959. With his approval, she changed the appearance of the Petite Lounge Chair (LC2). She removed the spring mechanism and used fabricating methods which allowed the frame to be chromed. She also gave the cushions a more formal, tailored look.
