QLIC Café is modeled after the Philosophy Cafés which were pioneered by François Brousse, and which proliferated in France in the late 20th century. Brousse (1913-1995), a philosophy professor who had mainly taught in the Languedoc-Roussillon region, is the author of some 80 works including poetry, essays (metaphysical, astronomical, historical and esoteric), novels, plays and storybooks.

The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment
"The Power of Now: A Guide to Spiritual Enlightenment," the best selling book by Eckhart Tolle, was the topic of discussion at a very well-attended QLIC Café on 2 March 2006.
The Power of Choice was the topic of discussion at QLIC Café on 5 March 2009. A quote from this book: "The end result of your life here on earth will always be the sum total of the choices you made while you were here." Discussion points of the evening: Why is choice a power? Is everything a choice? If so, does that mean we have the power to choose anything and create it? In the current economy, just how much can we still choose? What is the important of choice in the Law of Attraction?
