Ode to the Road

Every good road trip is made of two things: a sense of adventure and people to share it with. The Goal Zero story is no different. Ten years ago our journey began with a desire to push boundaries and explore the unknown. This summer, in honor of our 10 year anniversary, we hit the road and traveled around the American West. These are the places we saw and the people we met along the way.

Because candlelight won't always cut it. Long-lasting rechargeable lanterns and lights can be powered off-grid from solar or USB and are perfect for setting the summer dinner party mood.

Alabama Hills: climbing the iconic "Shark's Fin"
Situated on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada, the Alabama Hills are a geological marvel. It's not easy to capture an image that will do this place justice. We met up with #GoalZero ambassadors Ted Hesser and Brody Leven to explore the Alabama Hills, climb the iconic "Shark's Fin," and get a behind-the-scenes look at adventure photography in action.

Power in the desert
When designer Ben Uyeda set out to build his shipping container house in outskirts of Joshua Tree, California, he needed a way to power his tools. Not yet tied into the grid, electricity wasn’t an option. What he did have was sun—and lots of it. Using Boulder solar panels and a Yeti power station, Ben easily kept his battery-operated power tools charged throughout the build.
