The Satanic Temple wants to erect a 7-foot-tall statue of a seated Satan flanked by two children on the grounds of the Oklahoma state Capitol.

The Archdiocese of Boston warned that a planned historical re-enactment of a "black mass" violates Catholic teachings. The Harvard Extension Cultural Studies Club is holding the event. It is one in a student-led series exploring various cultures. “The idea of the Black Mass began as a propagandistic literary device to justify brutal purges against alleged witches.
