An 1857 glass negative of Market Street looking southwest from Monroe Avenue, where the streets met about where Rosa Parks Circle is located today. This is the earliest local photo taken using a glass negative. It was taken by Jim Kenney. Until that time, only daguerreotypes and ambrotypes were produced. The sign next to the flagpole on the right is in front of the Eagle Hotel and the sign advertises for the Kalamazoo Stage Coach Line.
