Britain's Bayeux Tapestry Scene showing Harold being killed - 1885 The replica was first exhibited in Leek's Nicholson Institute in 1886. Then it was displayed across Britain, Germany and America before being exhibited at Reading Town Hall in 1895. This exhibition was supported by Alderman Arthur Hill. His offer to buy the replica was accepted by the Leek Embroidery Society. He then presented the tapestry as a gift to Reading.
The Castle - Portobello. £13.50. Beef. Possibly the worst roast I have had in London Town, or maybe the world. Menu says 'seasonal vegetables'. What we were given was some kind of boiled/microwaved LEEKS and a couple of mange-tout that were shriveled to practically nothing. I have no words. Beef - nice. Tatties - mediocre. Yorkshire - tasteless. Gravy - pissy, of course. Side order of cauliflower cheese - meh. Actually nearly cried. Really. 2/10 for meat only.
