Why not rest when you need it?? WHY torture yourself when you can easily say "I can't right now" I'm all about CONQUERING an illness. Really, I am. But we also have to remember that some days we WILL LOSE, but that doesn't mean we give up or that we need to try harder. DONT go past your limits.
May 12th has been designated as International Awareness Day for Chronic Immunological and Neurological Diseases (CIND) since 1992. The diseases included in CIND include Myalgic Encephalomyelitis (ME) Chronic Fatigue Syndrome (CFS), Fibromyalgia (FM), Gulf War Syndrome(GWS) and Multiple Chemical Sensitivity (MCS).
For me, having MS is exhausting. I am constantly fighting to stay awake as I never sleep more than 3 hours at a time, to walk in a straight line while my world is spinning due to dizziness, to stay ccol because heat exacerbates my symptoms, ignore the pain, numbness and spasticity in my muscles, don't choke on my own saliva, beverages or small bites of food and attempt to keep my wits about me when my cognition is non-existant. Yes, it's manageable, livable, treatable but NOT curable.
