Map of 1876 showing the site of the East Sussex Constabulary Police Station in Grove Road, next to the Fire Station and Vestry Hall. The Vestry Hall was built in 1851 as the seat of local administration, the Town Hall was not constructed until 1886. At this time, the population of Eastbourne was less than that of Pevensey or Hailsham.
