On any given day, roughly 400,000 children are in foster care - spending about 2 years in the system because their parents can’t care for them. With few available foster parents, kids are shuffled from foster home to group home by overloaded caseworkers. While 70% aspire to go to college, only 2% will earn a bachelor’s degree. After aging out, most face unemployment, poverty or prison. It’s a system many say needs fixing, but how?
