USAF & Raytheon successfully conducted flight tests & live shots of small diameter bomb SDB II (GBU-39) guided precision on Boeing F-15E Strike Eagle.2 successful test firing against moving targets took place in Sept 2014 & at start of Feb,on facilities at White Sands Missile Test Range,New Mexico. These 2 tests of weapon qualifies it for USAF use.Next step will be weapon low initial production rate (LRIP).Should then remain under live fire tests in coming months.

The GBU-39 Small Diameter Bomb (SDB) is a 250-pound (113 kg) precision-guided glide bomb that is intended to provide aircraft with the ability to carry a higher number of bombs. Most US Air Force aircraft will be able to carry (using the BRU-61/A rack) a pack of four SDBs in place of a single 2,000 pounds (907 kg) bomb.
