Boeing has announced that it has retrofitted a number of retired Lockheed Martin F-16 fighter jets with equipment enabling them to be flown remotely without a pilot.  In conjunction with the US Air Force, one of these unmanned jets was recently flown.

Ankara, the Turkish Air Force received the last copy of the Lockheed-Martin F-16 "Fighting Falcon" completely modernized at a ceremony on April 10 at the Turkish Aerospace Industries Factory (TAI). While diving and turning, the pilot released flares, high-temperature heat sources used to mislead surface-to-air or air-to-air missile’s heat-seeking targeting systems, creating the pyrotechnic visual effect you can see behind the plane.
