This is one hell of a fine example as to why Colt remains one of the top dogs in the gun comkunity! That engraving and those grips are insanely beautiful!

This is the 1911-A1 Colt .45 which was standard issue to U. S. military troops 1920s thru 1970s until the Beretta M-9 became the standard issue. This differs from the 1911 which had the straight grip housing and minor parts that were improved upon in the 1911-A1.

Colt Single Action Army Revolvers -Our GOTDs are a martially-marked 7 ½ inch Colt and a martially-marked 5 ½ inch “Artillery” Colt, both chambered in .45. The basic single-action Colt .45 was issued to the US military from 1873 and mustered on through the Indian Wars and the Spanish-American War. If you are a fan of General Patton – you could say it was still in service during WWII. NRA Museum at Bass Pro Shops in Springfield, MO
