Afghan Women’s National Cycling Team. They say it's worth enduring insults and even threats of violence to pursue the sport they love. Now, the women have their sights set on a new goal -- to have one of their own make it to the 2016 Olympic Games, striking down barriers for Afghan women along the way.

11 years ago today (2016-08-24?), 1LT Laura Walker (Class of 2003) was killed in Afghanistan. Sadly, she was the first woman West Point graduate to give her life for this country. She was Captain of the Women's Handball team at West Point, played on the US squad at the Pan-American games and led the academy program to a collegiate championship. She deferred the opportunity to play in the Olympic Games in order to serve with her soldiers. Be thou at peace, Laura. #ProtectorsOfTheFree
