General of Cavalry Nicolas Dahlmann (1711-1807) was fatally wounded as he was leading the charge during the Battle of Eylau (Feb 1807). Dahlmann had joined the army at age 8 as a trumpeter. He rose steadily under Napoleon and fought in all major campaigns until his time of death. On Orders from Napoleon, Dahlmann's heart was embalmed and entombed at the Pantheon in Paris.
