Louis XV’s chest of drawers returns to Versailles, at least for a while.
The luxurious piece of furniture stood in the room of Louis XV at #Versailles for 35 years. Now, the royal chest of drawers is on loan from the @WallaceMuseum (London) and will return home for an exhibition about Louis XV. Yves Carlier, assistant director of the Musée national des châteaux de Versailles stated that “it is impossible for an object like this to have been designed without the king’s approval.” It is therefore a rare insight into the taste of the 18th century French monarch.
Sèvres porcelain lamp
Jean Nicolier’s collection offered an eclectic range of earthenware and porcelain pieces at auction. In particular, a very rare Sèvres porcelain lamp garnered the most attention. Made in 1760, the porcelain lamp and perfume burner has three parts – a square baluster-shaped pedestal section, a middle octagonal section & an openwork lid.

This bag by French luxury brand #Hermès has always been manufactured in limited editions – no more than 12,000 per year throughout the world. In near mint condition, this 35cm “Birkin” is presented in shades of lemon yellow, sesame brown, pink and clay; of course, it is not without its essential padlock and clochette. The 17th-century ivory statue of Saint Sebastian featured at the Émeraude Enchères in Saint-Malo, France. The finely sculpture depicts the martyrdom of Saint Sebastian; he stands with his hands tied to a tree, his left arm raised above his head as an arrow piercing both his abdomen and leg.
