Lots of light and lots of detail. Beautiful, if not exactly the right design detailing but you get my drift.
Natural History Museum, London ~ architect Alfred Waterhouse. Both the interiors & exteriors of the building made extensive use of terracotta tiles to resist the sooty climate of Victorian London, manufactured by the Tamworth-based company of Gibbs & Canning Limited. The tiles & bricks feature many relief sculptures of flora & fauna, with living & extinct species featured within the west & east wings respectively.
