"This combo is great for adding a vintage atmosphere. It tends to be high contrast, often with overexposed white areas and a pronounced grain. Green, red and orange subjects are best... other colours will be subdued or even altered completely. Most films work well with Libatique but I like Ina's 1982 as it has a greenish, aged appearance, in keeping with the vintage look." Fiona Christian

I decided to include 3 indoor shots and 3 outdoor shots to demonstrate how this combo works in these two extremely different situations. Firstly, I like this combo because I shoot 99% in black and white. I prefer this film because the frame is thin, not too intrusive, the image looks clear and it has a slightly grainy finish. Using the James M lens is a bit like putting an orange filter on the lens and I really love the results.

"The photographs taken by Cano Cafenol using Jane's lens produce clear images. hardly any overexposure. The pictures look as if they have been dipped in coffee. Their saturation is reduced. Therefore they convey a feeling of silence. They remind us of old, faded hand-coloured photographs. Landscapes are just as suitable as objects as portraits, a lens having fewer or no vignetting or irritating optical effects. I found these conditions by using Jane's lens." Katrin Sonntag
