Giacometti travaille rapidement sur les formes humaines et arrive à l’aboutissement de ses recherches en 1960 avec l’Homme qui marche. Les formes étirées et squelettiques du personnage sont caractéristiques des sculptures de Giacometti. En 2010, un des dix exemplaires de cette œuvre est vendu pour 126,83 millions d’euros, devenant ainsi la sculpture la plus chère jamais vendue aux enchères.
