Ibo Island Festival (Mozambique) 22 - 26 June 2013
The Ibo Islands are the cultural epicentre of the Quirimbas Archipelago in Northern #Mozambique. One of the oldest towns in Africa, it is undoubtedly also one of the most interesting and atmospheric. The festival is filled with an abundance of spectacles, from bicycle races to dug-out canoe and traditional dhow (fishing boat) events. School children present poems and drama performances, while football matches, dancing and singing pieces all form part of the festivities.
